“When Praises Go Up, Blessings Come Down”
My Journey with the American Heart Association began; May 2010. God provided so many opportunities for me to share my story of survival and promote heart awareness including: American Heart Association’s You’re The Cure Lobby Day On The Hill: Washington, D.C.( April 2013),
Heart & Soul Collage : I began collecting hearts in 2013. The purpose of the collage; to celebrate my recovery from heart valve replacement and three pace maker surgeries, promote heart awareness and honor every family affected by heart /stroke disease.
American Heart Association Heart Valve Ambassador Training ( July 2015) which took place at the AHA National Center : Dallas,Texas : This inaugural group of volunteer ambassadors is made up of seven heart valve disease survivors, including myself, and one caregiver from across the country who represent the face of heart valve disease in America and show that heart valve disease can affect people of different ages, backgrounds and lifestyles.

As ambassadors, we are leaders in the patient community and work directly with the AHA to raise awareness about heart valve disease resources for patients. We reach out to the patient community – both online, through the Support Network, and at in-person events – to offer support and direct patients to resources that are available through the AHA.
